Since then he has been challenged to collect every Bossons. But because he wanted his own collection to be perfect in every respect, he needed to learn as much as possible about restoring gypsum plaster artworks.
His research and study are a labor of love. Though new discoveries are being made every day, according to current knowledge, there are only a dozen or so Bossons remaining until his personal collection is complete.
Concerning The African Drummer on the right: it is one of a kind and was sent to Dr. Hardisty by his close friend and associate, the late Ken Potts, who worked at Bossons from the age of 18 until retirement in 1996. While there, Ken became Historian and Factory Manager.
Beginning with the first annual meeting of the International Bossons Collectors Society in 1986, Don has lectured about Bossons all over the US and in several other countries, e.g., Ireland, Germany, Canada and the UK.
